Wir gratulieren dem Busunternehmen YUTONG

Wir gratulieren dem Busunternehmen YUTONG und seinem Präsidenten, dem ehrenwerten Herrn Tang, zum Gewinn des Busdesign-Labels, einer Auszeichnung auf der Busworld-Ausstellung in Brüssel, mit dem YUTONG U12. Ich bin sehr stolz darauf, dass YUTONG den Bus, den ich 2016 entworfen habe, ausgewählt und zu diesem wunderbaren, vollelektrischen Stadtbus entwickelt hat. 2016 habe ich das Busunternehmen YUTONG viermal besucht und Herrn Tang und dem Exekutivvorstand etwa vier finale Busentwürfe vorgestellt. Alle waren sich damals einig, dass dieser Bus das Potenzial hat, ein echter Hingucker zu werden. Mit seinem schrägen Frontscheiben Design und seinen starken, einzigartigen Seitengrafiken ist er etwas ganz Besonderes. Ich nannte ihn „iBus“.

Ich möchte auch erwähnen, dass die vollelektrischen Buskonzepte von einem extrem kleinen Team entwickelt wurden. Jedes Mitglied des Teams ist ein Spitzenprofi auf seinem Gebiet. Die komplette 3D-Bus-Entwicklung von Grund auf dauerte etwa 14 Monate und wurde mit einer ECE-Homologation, EU-Zertifizierung und der kompletten Zulieferkette geliefert. All dies wurde mit einer extrem kostengünstigen und wettbewerbsfähigen Investition durchgeführt.Das Hauptentwicklungsteam um die Busse herum bestand damals aus Herrn Ernö Bartha, einer Legende in der Buswelt, Herrn Alexandru Vagner und Herrn Reiner Ritzinger, verantwortlich für die Konstruktion und Verpackung, Herrn Marcelo Cardilo, Alias 3D-Modellierung, und mir selbst, verantwortlich für das Exterieur- und Interieurdesign und das Design-Konstruktionsintegrationsmanagement. Es waren auch ca. 10 Personen im Team, die nach Bedarf/just in sequence arbeiteten und alle anderen Kompetenzbereiche wie Elektrik, Pneumatik, FEM-Berechnung, CFD-Berechnung (Klimaanlage) usw. abdeckten. Dieser „Lean Work Flow“-Prozess ist meiner Meinung nach ein sehr schneller und kosteneffizienter Weg, einen neuen Bus zu entwickeln und ein erprobtes und bewährtes Serienprodukt sehr schnell auf den Markt zu bringen. Ich hoffe, dass auch die anderen drei Entwürfe, die ich für Yutong erstellt habe, ihren Weg in die Produktion finden werden. Damals waren der Vorstand und seine wichtigsten europäischen Lieferanten von all den vollelektrischen Buskonzepten beeindruckt und dachten, dass sie alle ein enormes Marktpotenzial hätten. Warten wir es ab.

Nochmals herzlichen Glückwunsch an Herrn Tang, es war eine so innovative, kluge Entscheidung, den Bus zu produzieren. Ich persönlich bin sehr stolz darauf, dass mein Design einen so begehrter Designpreis gewonnen hat.

Congratulations to YUTONG bus company and to there President the honourable Mr. Tang for winning the bus design label award at Busworld exhibition in Brussels, with the YUTONG U12. I am very proud that YUTONG choose the bus that I penned and designed for them in 2016 and developed it into this wonderful full electric city bus. I visited the YUTONG bus company 4 times in 2016 and presented ca. 4 final full electric bus designs to Mr. Tang and the executive board of directors. Everyone agreed back then that this bus had the potential to really be a show stopper.  With its slopping front window and strong unique side graphics it was something very special.

I would as well like to mention the full electric bus concepts were developed by an extremly small team, each member of the team a top professional in their own field. The complet 3D bus development from scratch took around 14 months and was delivered with a ECE homologation, EU certification and the complet supplier chain. All this was done with an extremely low cost competitive investment.The main development team around the buses then called the „iBUS“, a name I created for this particular concept, consisted of Mr. Ernö Bartha, a legend in the bus world, Mr. Alexandru Vagner and Mr. Reiner Ritzinger, responsible for the construction and packaging, Mr. Marcelo Cardilo, Alias 3D modelling and myself responsible for exterior and interior design and design construction integration management. There were also ca. 10 people in the team working on demand/just in sequence covering all other areas of competence such as the electrics, pneumatics, FEM calculation, CFD calculation (aircon) etc. This „Lean Work Flow“ process is in my opinion a very fast and cost efficient way to develop a new bus and get a tested  and proven series product very quick to the market place.I hope that the other three designs, that I created for Yutong, will as well find their way into production. At the time, the board and their main European suppliers were impressed with all the full electric bus concepts and thought that they all had massive market potential. Let´s wait as see.   

It was such an innovative, clever decision on the part of Yutong to produce the bus, I personally am very proud, my design won such a coveted award.
